New Delhi: After facing criticisms ranging from age to all other things, US President Joe Biden has finally stepped back as a presidential candidate. Biden withdrew from the presidential race on Sunday. Along with this, he has supported his partner and Vice President Kamala Harris as the new presidential candidate. After this decision, sensation spread from America to the whole world. However, a lot of debate is yet to happen on Kamala Harris’ presidential candidacy.
It is now clear that former President Donald Trump will face Kamala Harris in the US presidential election. After being nominated as a presidential candidate, Kamala can become the first black woman and the first Asian American to advance on the ticket of a major political party. She said in a statement, “I am honored to have the President’s support and I intend to seek and win this nomination.”
What game is left now?
After Biden announced Kamala Harris as the presidential candidate, it is almost certain that she will be the presidential candidate. But the Democratic Party’s candidate selection committee will still have to decide who will be the next candidate for the presidency. Many names are currently running in the presidential race. From the Democratic Party, there are 6 more names in the presidential race along with California Governor Gavin Newsom, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro. Now it remains to be seen who the Democratic Party declares as its candidate.
Questions were being raised on Biden
Biden’s historic endorsement and Harris’ pledge to unite the party behind him came after he announced on Sunday that he was dropping his bid for re-election, following weeks of disarray within the Democratic Party. The presidential debate’s awkwardness raised questions about his ability to win a second term and govern for another four years.
How did Biden take the decision?
Meanwhile, Trump told CNN that he thinks Harris will be easier to defeat than Biden. A CNN reporter said on X that Trump made the comments to the network shortly after Biden announced his decision. Biden made the final decision to drop out of the presidential race in the last 48 hours, a senior campaign adviser told CNN, as he consulted with family and top advisers over the phone while recovering from COVID-19. A source familiar with the matter said planning to drop out of the race began Saturday night and was finalized on Sunday.
