HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — We’re for a few more hot and mostly dry days, but that all chances by Friday as a rare July “cool” front rolls in and sticks around to bring high rain chances for several days.
Overnight we can expect temperatures to fall back into the mid-to-upper 70s under a mostly clear sky. Sunshine on Tuesday will warm temperatures into the mid 90s under a partly cloudy sky. The feels-like temperatures are also expected to exceed 100 degrees, but overall the heat is fairly average for this time of year. There’s a small chance for a spot shower or storm, but most of Southeast Texas will stay dry.
On Monday we were glanced by a Saharan dust cloud, and on Tuesday that cloud is expected to move away.
What will this July “cool” front do to our weather later this week?
First off, don’t get too excited about the “cool” part. This is more of a “storm front.” The front is expected to slip in here either Thursday evening or Friday morning, and as it collides with tropical moisture, widespread rain should be the result. This front will stall out around Southeast Texas for several days, possible through the middle of next week. This means every day there will be scattered downpours popping up once the atmosphere warms into the mid 80s, and with those daily downpours, high temperatures will likely peak in the mid-to-upper 80s each day.
Will these storms bring any severe weather or flooding?
Severe weather looks unlikely at this time, but the heavy rain could lead to localized street flooding.
