Washington. Democratic Party’s potential presidential candidate Kamala Harris said that even though she is considered an ‘underdog’ in the race for the White House, she will definitely win the election in November on the strength of her people-centric campaign at the grassroots level. In her first fund-raising campaign after the official announcement of her candidature for the presidency, Harris told supporters that this year’s election is a choice between two visions for the country – one, which looks towards the future and the other, which wants to destroy the country’s progress.
Vice President Harris addressed a crowd of 800 people who had gathered to raise funds for her in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, saying, “We are underperforming in this race. A bar has been set. We may be underperforming in this race, but this is a grassroots, people-centric campaign.” She raised $1.4 million at the event on Saturday.
Amid thunderous applause from the audience, Harris (59) said that her campaign has “garnered enough delegate support to secure the Democratic Party’s nomination.” Targeting her Republican rival Donald Trump, she asked, “What kind of country do we want to live in? Do we want to live in a country of freedom, compassion and the rule of law or do we want to live in a country of anarchy, fear and hate?” Harris hoped that former President Trump (78) would agree to debate with her. She alleged that Trump was spreading lies and confusion against her.
