Kyiv. The war between Russia and Ukraine has been going on for more than two years and there is no sign of it ending. Meanwhile, Ukraine and Russia exchanged 75-75 soldiers captured in the war on Friday. This is the first exchange of prisoners of war (POW) between the two countries in the last three months. The United Arab Emirates said that it has helped in this recent exchange.
Officials said that shortly before the exchange of prisoners of war, both sides had also handed over the bodies of the soldiers to each other at the same place. According to the ‘Ukraine coordination headquarters for treatment of POW’, a total of 3,210 Ukrainian military personnel and civilians have returned to the country since the war began.
Russia carried out a missile attack on Kharkiv, 5 killed
Earlier, at least five people were killed and more than 24 were injured in Russian missile attacks in the north-eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv.
Kharkiv Governor Oleh Sinyubov said that the Russian army fired five missiles on the city. At least 20 residential buildings were damaged in this attack. At least 5 people lost their lives in these attacks. Most of the people who died in this attack were living in a five-storey apartment. A fire engine and an ambulance were also damaged in the attacks.
Ukrainian officials said Kiev was attacked with a cruise missile. A car repair shop and six vehicles were damaged in the attack. Ukraine has been facing a massive Russian invasion for more than two years. Russian attacks on Ukrainian power supplies have led to frequent power cuts.
The city of Vovchansk in ruins
Meanwhile, the international news agency Associated Press has released a drone video. In this, residential buildings in the city of Vovchansk in the north-east of Ukraine can be seen turned into a pile of rubble and empty bomb shells are lying nearby.
Like many Ukrainian cities bordering Russia, this city has also turned into ruins. There is a fierce war going on between the Russian and Ukrainian armies here. At present, Ukraine has control over only 70 percent of this city, the remaining 30 percent area is under the control of the Russian army. The population of this city was around 17000, but now the city is empty and only soldiers are seen here.
Biden gives Ukraine permission to attack with American weapons
Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden has allowed Ukraine to use the weapons given to it to target Russian targets. However, these weapons should not be used inside the Russian border. Till now, Ukraine was banned from using weapons given by Western countries in attacks against Russia.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had been seeking permission to use these weapons for a long time. In such a situation, it is believed that Biden’s move could change the course of the Russia-Ukraine war.
