Taipei. Taiwan on Tuesday attacked China for criticizing the exchange of messages between the island nation and India. By doing this, it has not only told China its place but also made it clear that it is not going to bow down to it.
Taiwan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Tien Chung-kwang said in a statement on Tuesday that neither his president nor India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be intimidated by China. Taiwan’s sharp words came after the Chinese Foreign Ministry objected to the exchange of messages between PM Modi and Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te, in which Lai Ching congratulated PM Modi on his victory in the 2024 general elections in India.
When asked about China’s criticism of the strong ties between India and Taiwan, the Deputy Foreign Minister said, “…I think Modiji and our President will not be intimidated…” Taiwan’s President-elect Lai Ching-te, who was elected last month, had congratulated PM Narendra Modi on his victory in the Lok Sabha elections 2024 in an ‘X’ post on June 7.
