Nainital. These days, the ‘NH Pandey Independence Day Children Football’ tournament has been organized at the historic DSA ground located in Mallital, the tourist city of Uttarakhand. Teams from 12 schools are participating in this tournament. The special thing related to this tournament is that its first final was played in this ground on the day of independence of the country i.e. 15 August 1947. Only students of schools up to class 8th can participate in this. This year 12 teams are participating in this tournament, which have been divided into 4 pools. Pool A includes Birla Vidya Mandir, GD JM Chorgalia and BSSV, Pool B includes Saraswati Shiksha Mandir, Sanwal School and Woodbridge School, Pool C includes Lex International Bhimtal, St. Joseph and Naini School, Pool D includes RSSV Nishant, Long View Public School and Lex International.

Kundan Singh Suyal, coach of Rashtriya Shaheed Sainik Smarak Vidyapeeth Mallital team, says that due to Corona, this tournament could not be organized for two years. However, this time the students are getting a chance to show their talent. Playing helps in physical as well as mental development of children, due to which they remain ahead in many areas.

Let us tell you that this tournament has been organized by the CRST Old Boys Association. Lalit Tiwari, a member of this association, says that every year this competition is organized from 1st August to 15th August and its final match is played on 15th August. The first final match of this competition was held on 15 August 1947 Which was played between CRST School and GIC. This year this tournament has been sponsored by Nainital Bank.
