NASA News Update: NASA astronaut Sunita Williams has been on a mission in space for a long time and her return is being awaited continuously. Currently she is working with her colleague Butch Wilmore on how plants can be grown without soil in space. Both these veteran astronauts of NASA have gone to the International Space Station (ISS) under the Boeing Starliner mission.
NASA said in its blog post that she is working on finding and testing ways to water plants in microgravity. She has designed plant water management hardware. NASA wrote in its blog that Williams conducted several tests using hydroponics and air. She wanted to understand how to grow different types of plants well while living in space. Williams and Wilmore also made a video of this entire research and experiment.
When can Sunita Williams return
Meanwhile, let us tell you that NASA had recently said about Sunita Williams and her spacecraft that the time limit of the mission has been extended. There was a fear that the spacecraft might have been a victim of an accident, but later NASA said that everything is in good condition and there is nothing to worry about at the moment. The space mission of Boeing Starliner has been extended.
It is not yet decided when both of them will return. The Starliner spacecraft also had a technical fault recently. If everything had been according to the earlier plan of the mission, the spacecraft would have returned last month itself. Earlier it had malfunctioned due to helium leak. But later there was a problem with its thrusters as well.
