Barabanki: Most of the farmers of the district have now left farming and started doing fish farming business. Because the farmers who used to earn a meager income earlier, are now earning a good profit by digging ponds in the same fields and doing fish farming. Actually, by doing fish farming in ponds, farmers can produce many times more fish. Because different types of fish are reared in the pond. Adequate food is easily arranged in the fish pond and once you start fish farming in it, you can earn continuously from it.

Earns 7-8 lakhs in 6 months
Most of the farmers of the district are rapidly moving towards fish farming. Amit Kumar, a resident of Rasulpur village of Barabanki district, left traditional farming and started fish farming. In which he has been earning profits of lakhs of rupees for many years. He is rearing many types of fish at his place. Which includes all types of fish like Bekar, Rohu, Singhi. Among these, he rears more of Baker species of fish, because there is a lot of demand for it in the markets. Today he is earning 7 to 8 lakh rupees in 6 months from this business. He is also giving employment to many people in this business.

Started leaving the cultivation of paddy and wheat
Fisherman Amit Kumar said that earlier we used to grow paddy and wheat. We were not able to earn much profit in that. Then I came to know about fish farming, so we did fish farming in two ponds. We got good profit in that. After that I built five ponds in 5 bighas. In which we are farming many types of fish. About four lakh rupees are spent on one pond, because the fish feed used in it is also very expensive. It contains salt and lime, due to which the cost is a bit high. If we talk about profit, then after deducting the cost, about 7 to 8 lakh rupees are saved.
