Years of waiting are over! Now Google Map will tell you whether to take a flyover or not, finding an EV charging station will also be easy

New Delhi. Google Maps has been updated with new features aimed at improving the navigation experience on Maps. On Thursday, Google announced new features coming to the app. The new features will help users prepare for upcoming flyovers, help four-wheeler drivers navigate small roads and help EV drivers locate the nearest charging station. Also, users will be able to book metro tickets from the Google Maps app and the process of reporting road accidents on the app has also been simplified now.

To help users be prepared for upcoming flyovers while driving in city traffic, Google Maps has been updated with a new Flyover Callout feature. The company says that this feature is specifically designed to eliminate the need to decide whether to take a flyover or a lower road while driving in a new place. Let us tell you that users were waiting for this update for a long time.

Users of Android smartphones or Android Auto units will start seeing the new Flyover callout feature from this week and it will initially be available in 40 cities of the country. According to the company, these callouts will show on both two-wheeler and four-wheeler navigation routes. iOS and CarPlay users will have to wait. Currently there is no release date for this feature on these platforms.

Google Maps will now provide information related to EV charging stations across the country and this information will also appear on the company’s search results. Drivers will be able to see what type of plugs are supported at the charging station, as well as whether the station is open or not in real-time. The company has partnered with four EV charging providers Ather, ElectricPe, Kazam and Statiq to collect information for more than 8,000 charging stations in the country.

After the update in Google Maps, a new AI-powered navigation feature will also be available. Which will estimate the width of small roads, which will give information to four-wheeler drivers about the possibility of congested roads. Apart from this, passengers will now be able to book metro tickets on Google Maps and the company has partnered with ONDC and Namma Yatri to provide this facility on its navigation app.

At the same time, road incident reporting has also been improved on Google Maps and the company says that it has streamlined the process of reporting accidents or repair and construction work on the road, which means that now it will take less time to look at the screen.
