Tomato and arthritis pain : No good vegetable can be prepared without tomato. Tomato is a treasure of vitamin C, potassium, folate and vitamin K. Therefore, tomato boosts immunity and benefits the heart. The fiber content in tomato is also very high due to which it is very good for digestion. After so many benefits, some people believe that eating tomato increases arthritis pain. Similarly, it is also said that eating tomato increases the problem of gas in the stomach. To clear this confusion, we spoke to a clinical nutritionist living in Phoenix, America. Dr. Priyanka Rohatgi talked to.

Does arthritis really increase pain?
Dr. Priyanka Rohatgi told that tomatoes contain solanine toxin. It is believed that it increases inflammation and swelling due to which arthritis pain increases but till now there is no full proof of this. This is a myth in a way because all the compounds present in tomatoes are soluble in water. However, if you consume anything in excess, it will cause harm. Therefore, if you eat more tomatoes, then arthritis pain may increase but it has no relation with medical science. Eating tomatoes in limited quantity will not cause you any harm. Dr. Priyanka told that yes, if someone already has arthritis pain and he is already taking more calcium through milk, curd, cheese, then joint pain may increase in them. But there is no harm if tomatoes are consumed in limited quantity.

Gas problem increases
Dr. Priyanka Rohatgi told that tomato is acidic in nature. It contains many acids like malic and citric acid. In such a situation, if tomato is consumed in excess, it can cause gas and indigestion. Problems like acid reflux and heartburn can also occur. People who already have such problems, excessive consumption of tomato can trouble them. But even healthy people can face this problem if they consume too much tomato early in the morning. However, people do not consume tomato early in the morning. Problems arise only when it is consumed in excess.

Can there be kidney stones
Dr. Priyanka Rohatgi said that this is nothing but a myth because the amount of oxalate in tomatoes is very low. Therefore, there is no question of tomatoes causing kidney stones. But if you eat too many tomatoes, eat more than required, then all kinds of problems can occur. This applies not only to tomatoes but to every food.
