The Indian team was all out on this score while chasing the target. The match was inconclusive and the winner will be decided by the remaining two matches of the series.

Super over was not conducted
The last match of the three-match T20 series between India and Sri Lanka was also tied. A super over was conducted in this match where the Indian team won easily. The first match of the ODI series was tied but due to ICC rules, a super over was not conducted in this match.

What is the rule of ICC
According to ICC rules, there is a provision of super over in all T20 International matches. If the match is tied, then the match goes into super over and its result is decided. On the other hand, ICC rules are different in ODIs. There is no provision of super over for this format. In the knockout of ICC tournaments, the winner is decided through super over. In the 2019 ODI World Cup played between New Zealand and England, a super over was conducted after the match was tied. The super over was also tied and the winner was decided on the basis of hitting the most boundaries.
