Now even if a cobra bites you, your life can be saved! Scientists have found a new way of treatment, the poison will be ineffective

Blood Thinners To Treat Cobra Venom: Thousands of types of snakes are found all over the world and a large number of people die due to their bites. Snake bites spread poison in the body of people and due to not getting timely treatment, life is lost. Anti-venom is given to people in case of snake bite, so that the effect of snake venom is reduced. There are some very dangerous snakes including cobra, whose bite can cause immediate death of people. Now in a new research, scientists have found a new way of treating cobra snake bite, which can save people’s lives.

The Guardian’s Report According to an international study, blood thinners can be used as an antidote to eliminate cobra venom. The current treatment for cobra bites involves giving antivenom to people through an intravenous drip. This medicine reaches the bloodstream instead of the tissue. This is the reason why this treatment is not considered very effective and many people die despite treatment. This treatment is also very expensive.

In a study published in the Journal of Science Translational Medicine, scientists said that the blood-thinning drug Heparin can enter the body and reach the infected tissues directly. It can be used on the spot after snake bite along with some other medicines. This can help in reducing the effect of cobra venom. Researchers believe that if the trials conducted on humans regarding this drug are successful, then soon this treatment can be available to people.

Lead author of this study and Sydney University researcher Tian Du said that heparin drug is included in the World Health Organization’s list of essential medicines and due to this, after its trial is successful, it can be launched in the market soon, so that it can become a cheap, safe and effective drug for the treatment of cobra bite. However, he said that at present it is not clear how much heparin drug will reduce the tissue damage caused by cobra venom, but it is expected that if the right dose of this drug is found immediately, then the damage to the tissue can be reduced by 50% to 100%.

Cobras account for the majority of snake bites in India and parts of Africa. The research team analysed which genes are affected by snake venom. They then identified that these genes are responsible for the production of heparan sulfate on the surface of cells as well as heparin sulfate, which is released in the immune response. Heparin acts as an antidote, binding and neutralising toxins within the venom. This can help prevent tissue damage.
