On one hand, UPSC cancelled her candidature, due to which she lost her IAS post, while on the other hand, Patiala House Court rejected her anticipatory bail plea. Due to which she is in danger of being arrested. Her lawyer had also mentioned this in the hearing held in Patiala House Court. Now that the court has stayed Pooja Khedkar’s anticipatory bail, her arrest is certain. Now the question arises that if Pooja Khedkar is arrested, what punishment will she get? After all, what is the maximum punishment she can be given?

What is the connection with UPSC?
If the police arrests Pooja Khedkar, then the first thing the police will do is take her on remand for interrogation. She will be interrogated after being taken into custody, because the court in its order has asked the investigating agency to expand the scope of investigation in this entire case. Apart from this, the court has also asked the Delhi Police to investigate whether anyone from within UPSC helped Pooja Khedkar. It is clear that now the UPSC connection can also be investigated in this case. After this order of the court, it is being speculated that the police can also investigate the UPSC connection in the interrogation of Pooja Khedkar.

A senior Supreme Court advocate B S Rajesh Agarjit says that action can be taken against Pooja Khedkar under sections of fraud, forged documents and forgery. Action can be taken against her under sections 318, section 336 (3) and section 340 (2) of the Indian Penal Code.

What could be the punishment?
Senior Supreme Court advocate B S Rajesh Agarjeet says that if the charges against Pooja Khedkar are proved in court, then she can be sentenced to up to 7 years of imprisonment in the case of fraud, fake documents and forgery. Rajesh Agarjeet explains that if found guilty under section 318 and section 336 (3), then there is a provision of maximum 7-7 years imprisonment. Similarly, if found guilty under section 340, then there is a provision of minimum 10 years or life imprisonment. He says that in such a situation, if the charges against Pooja Khedkar are proved, then she can be sentenced to life imprisonment. Rajesh said that after the anticipatory bail petition was rejected by the court, a lot is clear in this case now. Now the police can take action to arrest Pooja Khedkar.
