Wayanad. At least 318 people have died in the massive landslide incident in Wayanad and hundreds are still reported missing. Now the army has rescued 4 people alive from among those trapped in the Wayanad landslide. During the rescue operation, the Indian Army rescued four people alive from the debris in Padavetty Kunnu in Wayanad, among whom there are two men and two women. The army is carrying out this rescue operation with utmost caution so that the safety of everyone can be ensured.

The army launched Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) for rescue in this rescue operation so that the trapped people could be rescued in time. One of the rescued women is having a problem in her leg and she is being given necessary medical help. Meanwhile, Kerala ADGP M.R. Ajit Kumar said on Friday that despite heavy rains, a massive search and rescue operation is going on in Mundakkai, Wayanad and about 300 people are still missing. The death toll in the landslide caused by heavy rains on Tuesday had reached 190 yesterday, while officials have expressed apprehension that this number may increase.

ADGP M.R. Ajith Kumar told reporters that about 300 people are still missing, but the actual number will be known only after the Revenue Department collects the details. He said, ‘According to the information we have received so far, about 300 people are still missing. The Revenue Department is engaged in collecting the details. The picture will be completely clear in a day or two.’ The ADGP in charge of law and order in the state said that the landslide affected areas have been divided into six zones and different teams along with sniffer dog squads have started the search operation.

He said that Kerala Police will conduct search operations in Chaliyar river up to Kozhikode city with the help of expert agencies. Kumar said that ‘We are conducting search operations in the river as well. Yesterday we found bodies from Pothukal. So now we have instructed all the police stations from Chaliyar river bank to Kozhikode city to conduct search operations in their respective areas.’ There are reports of bodies being found from the banks of Chaliyar river in Malappuram district. Officials had said that 143 bodies and several body parts found around the Chaliyar river flowing through Malappuram have been brought to Wayanad.
