There was massive destruction after the landslide in Wayanad, Kerala. More than 250 people died in this. 206 people are still missing, who are being searched. Army sniffer dogs have been sent, who are looking for people buried under the debris. Meanwhile, Indian Space Research Organization ISRO has released some pictures, which are very scary.

The Indian Army, NDRF and the police administration are engaged in searching for the missing people in the accident. People are being searched in the mud. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the rescue operation will continue for a few more days. A team of four ministers has been formed to monitor this. These four ministers will be present at the accident site 24 hours a day.

The Chief Minister clearly said that now the chances of anyone surviving are negligible. Because the army says that all the people who could be saved have been saved. Still many people are missing. We have recovered many bodies from many parts of the area. Many bodies have also been recovered from the Chaliyar river. Parts of many bodies have also been found. So it will take a few more days.

Chief Minister Vijayan said, “This rescue effort is not something that will be completed in a few days: 12 ministers are still camping in Wayanad. It has now been decided in the all-party meeting that four ministers will stay here to coordinate the rescue operation. Initially it was not possible to take big machines for the rescue operation, but now that the army has completed the construction of the Bailey bridge, the operation will become easier.

Now ISRO’s Hyderabad Center has captured some pictures from Cartosat-3 optical satellite and RISAT satellite. This shows that the landslide occurred at an altitude of 1,550 meters due to heavy rains. According to the NRSC report, the landslide increased further due to the massive debris coming due to torrential rains in and around Choorlamalla town. The landslide spread over 86,000 square meters.

The satellite images show the situation before and after the landslide. You can see that as soon as the debris fell into the river, the river started flowing very wide. Due to this, the houses located on the river bank were damaged a lot. The 3D image of the upper part of the landslide shows how the entire hill broke. Satellite data also shows that a landslide had occurred at the same place earlier as well. This shows how landslides keep happening in this area.
