  • However, the Army itself said on its X handle that this photo of the 1971 war has not been removed. It has been deliberately shifted to Manekshaw Center in Delhi, so that more and more people can see it.

What is the truth of the viral claim?

In fact, the matter of removing the picture of surrender of Pakistani Army during Bangladesh Liberation War had reached the Parliament. The question was raised by opposition leader Rahul Gandhi and Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi in the Lok Sabha. Both accused the government of undermining India’s military history and the legacy of the Indira Gandhi-led government.

After this, the Army said on its X handle that the photo of the 1971 war has not been removed. It has been deliberately shifted to Manekshaw Center in Delhi, so that more and more people can see it.

The Army wrote in its post – “This painting is one of the greatest military victories of the Indian Armed Forces and a testament to India’s commitment to justice and humanity for all. Its exhibition at the Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi attracted a large number of visitors. will be benefited as this place receives a large number of diverse visitors and dignitaries from India and abroad.”
