Inter-district smuggler in the custody of Barabanki police.
Six inter-district smugglers were arrested in a joint action by police, SWAT and surveillance team in Ramsanehighat Kotwali area of Barabanki. 600 grams of smack and Rs 23 lakh 72 thousand in cash were recovered from their possession.

The smugglers caught include Shubham Pathak, Ashish Rawat, Dharamraj Rawat, Durgesh Rawat, Vinod Rawat and Jeet Bahadur. The police have sent everyone to jail under the NDPS Act.
SP Dinesh Kumar Singh told in the press conference on Wednesday that strict action is being taken against drug smuggling and their consumption. On Wednesday, the police arrested these smugglers near Kotwa road. 600 grams of smack and five mobile phones have also been recovered from the smugglers, the total value of which is said to be around Rs 60 lakh.
During police interrogation, smugglers told that Shubham Pathak had started drug smuggling with his father. His father was a history-sheeter and after his death, Shubham continued this illegal business with his associates. Shubham used to smuggle and also retail narcotics in the areas around Ayodhya, Ambedkar Nagar and Barabanki.
Many cases have already been registered against Shubham Pathak in Ayodhya, Barabanki and Ambedkar Nagar. Apart from this, many cases are registered against other smugglers in Basti and Barabanki. SWAT team in-charge Inspector Ajay Singh, Surveillance Inspector Brijesh Kumar Yadav and Ramsanehighat Kotwal Om Prakash Tiwari and other policemen were involved in the police action.
SP Dinesh Kumar Singh said that the police campaign against drug trafficking will continue and strict action will be taken in future also.
