Aamir Khan has recently talked about ex-wife Kiran Rao. He considers himself lucky that Kiran came into his life.
In an interview given to BBC News India, Aamir said about Kiran Rao – I feel very grateful and lucky that Kiran came into my life. We have spent 16 beautiful years together. I have got to learn a lot from him. He is an amazing human being. He is also a great director.
Aamir said- Kiran is an honest director
Aamir also told why he chose Kiran Rao to direct the film Lapata Ladies. He said- When I read the script, the first name that came to my mind was Kiran because I think she is an honest director. It’s a dramatic story and I needed a director who would tell it very honestly.
Once she takes charge of a script or film, she gives it her all. I know I can depend on him to deliver whatever is required for the film.
‘We love and respect each other’
Despite divorce, Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao share a good bond. On this the actor said- There is no secret in this. She is a good person and I am not that bad either. Because of this we get along very well. We love each other very much. We respect each other. Our relationship may have changed a bit, but that doesn’t mean that what we feel for each other has diminished.

Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao had announced divorce in 2021 after 16 years of marriage. They have a son, born via surrogacy in 2011.
