Due to the irresponsibility of the school management, 155 people including 130 school children and 25 staff from Gonda district were trapped in the forest of Katarniaghat. From where the school staff neither had the permission letter to leave at night, nor were there any arrangements for accommodation and food for the children. When District Magistrate Monica Rani got information about this, she sent SDM to the spot and ordered them to be evacuated safely. Then the children were safely taken out of the forest. The SDM reprimanded the school staff for this negligence of the school management.
In fact, the school staff reached the dense forests of Katarniaghat in Bahraich with 130 school children of classes 1 to 8 from New Standard Training Institute from Dhanepur in Gonda district. After taking the children on a tour, left for Nepal. But due to it being late in the evening, school vehicles were not allowed to enter Nepal. Due to which the school staff went back to the forests with all the school children traveling on three buses. Then camped at Bichhiya station amidst the deserted forest.
Lion and leopard roam in the forest
The forest of Katarniaghat is quite big. Not only this, this forest is also very dangerous. There is a gathering of lions, leopards, cheetahs and wild elephants here. Therefore, movement of vehicles is banned here at night. School children also remained stranded in the forests. Meanwhile, District Officer Monica Rani got the news that school children were trapped in the forest. He immediately sent SDM to the spot. Then SDM Sanjay Kumar, who reached the school children late at night, reprimanded the staff and asked them to immediately take the children to a safe place in the middle of the forest. He got all the children and school staff out of the forest safely.
Hungry and thirsty children trapped in the forest
This was the biggest mistake of the school management. The reason for this is that arranging food for 155 people in Katarniaghat is a big problem. Bichiya is the only such place in Katarniaghat. Where there are two or three small hotels, which can arrange food for maximum 5-10 people. In such a situation, neither of them had any place to stay in this cold wave. Nor was there any arrangement for food. At the same time, the forest roads are closed at night. In such a situation, we cannot return from there. Now in such a situation all the children got trapped in the forest hungry and thirsty.
