A case of robber bride has come to light in Banda. This bride used to target people who were not married. He had a whole gang, which was spread across Banda, Hamirpur, Jalaun, Jhansi, Lalitpur, Mahoba, Kanpur of Uttar Pradesh. Police have exposed a gang involved in robbery in the name of marriage. 4 people have been arrested in this. Women are also included in this group. Four mobile phones, two Aadhar cards and Rs 5000 in cash were recovered from them. The bride used to cheat money in the name of marriage. After the marriage, the girl was sent away with the groom. After this, she would stay for 2-3 days and run away from home with cash and jewellery.
This gang used to get marriages done through notaries. Then they would make off with money and jewellery. A woman from Jalaun, who was part of the gang, became the bride. Shankar Upadhyay, resident of Jamalpur village of Dehat Kotwali, had lodged a complaint in the Kotwali. Shankar told that he was being cheated in the name of getting married. When the police registered a report and investigated, the matter turned out to be true. Then the police arrested four people from Mahokhar village intersection of Banda.
The accused were cheating in the name of getting married
A man told the police that he too was duped on the pretext of marriage. Police registered FIR in this case and started investigation. On the information of the informer, the police arrested four accused. Which included two women and two men. According to the police, a woman was supposed to be a bride. The second woman took people into confidence by posing as his mother. The remaining two accused were his associates. Additional Superintendent of Police Shivraj said that the police had received a complaint that some people were cheating in the name of getting married. Understanding the seriousness of the matter, the police have arrested all four accused and sent them to jail. Now legal action is going on.
Used to target these people
The accused told that these people used to target those who were not getting married. In the name of getting such people married, they used to take money and get girls belonging to the gang married. The marriage took place at a notary. After this, the woman from the gang who became the bride would stay with the groom for a few days, and then, taking the opportunity, would run away with the jewelery and money from the house. So far this gang has targeted 6 people. But during the seventh hunt, the police caught the gang.
This is how the arrest happened
The robber bride gang tried to trap Shankar Upadhyay. Gang member Sanjana Gupta introduced herself as the girl’s mother and presented the young woman named Jyoti as a marriageable girl. Asked for advance in the name of buying clothes and jewelery before marriage. After paying Rs 5000, Shankar informed the police, due to which the gang was caught.
