Gulab Chand Kataria inaugurating the ceremony
Gulab Chand Kataria, Governor of Punjab and Administrator of UT Chandigarh, organized a grand function to mark the 100th birth anniversary of Padmashree Nek Chand, the creator of the Rock Garden. The program organized on this special occasion included blood donation camps, cultural performances and many attractive activities.

Senior officials of Chandigarh administration Rajiv Verma, Mandeep Singh Brar, Nishant Kumar Yadav and C.B. were present at the ceremony. Ojha and other people were present. The inauguration ceremony began with lighting of the lamp and offering floral tributes at the memorial of Nek Chand located in the Rock Garden.

Governor Gulab Chand Kataria inaugurated the blood donation camp organized by Rock Garden Society, in which citizens donated blood with enthusiasm. Appreciating the vision of Nek Chand, the Governor said that the Rock Garden shows how a wonderful structure can be created by turning waste objects into art. Describing Nek Chand’s legacy as a source of inspiration, he appealed to the citizens to adopt creativity and environmental awareness.

Traditional artistes from across the country performed at the event, including jugglers, dancers, bean-jogis, impersonators and nagara players. These exhibitions celebrated India’s rich cultural heritage and highlighted Nek Chand’s principles of inclusivity and cultural diversity.
