Pallavi Raj (18), a resident of Devgaon in Deepka area of Korba district, was pursuing a computer course. He had taken admission in Ashrayadatt Karmashala (Hostel) located in Tifra only 2 months ago. On December 12, Pallavi had jumped from the hostel roof in front of caretaker Alka Kori. At that time the caretaker was drinking tea in the sunlight.
The student fell in the blood-spattered courtyard During this time, seeing her jumping, the caretaker and another student ran to the spot and found her lying on the ground. Hearing the sound, everyone rushed down. The student was lying on her head. There was a lot of blood flowing from the head and nose. He was immediately taken to SIMS for treatment, where he died during treatment.
Talked to sister on video call before death Pallavi’s elder sister Priya Raj accused a young man of harassing her younger sister. He told that Pallavi had talked through video call on mobile, then she had told through gestures that a boy from the hostel had assaulted her. He harasses her every day. She also said that she was angry because of his actions.
Sister’s statement was made the basis Police officers said that during the interrogation, the statement of the sister of the deceased Pallavi was recorded. He told that on the day of the incident, Pallavi had made a video call to her sister and informed about Akash assaulting her with gestures. On this basis, the police have made disabled youth Akash Ravi (19), father Jagdalram Ravi, resident of village Mahagai of Ramanuj Nagar in Surajpur district, an accused in the case.

During the interrogation, there was difficulty in talking to the hostel staff as well as other students. For this the police took help of those who knew sign language. During interrogation in sign language, it was revealed that Akash, a youth studying with Pallavi, had assaulted her. He used to harass her. On this basis the police interrogated him.
Evidence collected from forensic and scientific investigation The police took the help of forensic experts during the investigation of this case, after which photography and videography of the incident site was done. The investigation was done by collecting evidence scientifically. After which the witnesses as well as the accused were interrogated through a sign language expert. The police have arrested the accused Akash Ravi in this case of abetment of suicide.
