The war of words has intensified before the Delhi Assembly elections. Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday released the ‘charge sheet’ against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi. In this document released in a press conference, the party was accused of several administration failures and corruption. Anurag Thakur strongly criticized the Kejriwal government’s way of handling public issues, raising the issue of the recent tragic death of three UPSC aspirants due to floods caused by rains in Old Rajendra Nagar.
“They wanted to make Delhi a city of lakes, but instead, we have seen youth losing their lives due to their carelessness,” Thakur said. Thakur said, “Due to excessive air pollution and poor sewage system, Delhi has become a gas chamber. This is causing diseases like malaria and dengue. Water has become polluted… Let’s save Delhi today and end Arvind Kejriwal’s corruption.” It’s time to do it.”
Thakur raised the slogan, “Scam after scam, Kejriwal has made Delhi a laboratory of corruption.” He said that BJP will remove AAP from power in Delhi.
Echoing similar sentiments, BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva alleged massive corruption and mismanagement within the Delhi government. He highlighted the poor condition of the city’s drainage system and accused AAP of prioritizing personal interests over public welfare.
Sachdeva said in remarks, “The AAP government has failed to clean the drains, leading to severe floods and loss of lives. They only looked at their own benefit.” While the release of the charge sheet will intensify the political fight in the national capital, AAP is yet to react to the allegations.
As the city gears up for the next electoral contest, allegations and counter-allegations are expected to dominate the political discourse ahead of elections early next year.
