Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal on Monday played another election card and made a big promise that now the priests of temples and the priests of Gurudwaras will be given a monthly allowance of Rs 18,000. However, this allowance will be given only if AAP comes to power for the third time. For this scheme, Kejriwal and his leaders visited different temples and gurudwaras of the capital from December 31 and registered the priests and granthis.
Aam Aadmi Party said that the party’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal along with his wife Sunita Kejriwal took the blessings of Hanuman ji by visiting Marghat Baba Temple (ISBT). During this, Kejriwal started the registration program of ‘Priest-Granthi Samman Yojana’ across the state by registering the Mahant of Marghat Baba Temple under the scheme.
Party leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia started registration for this scheme at Jangpura Shiv Temple. AAP leader Manish Sisodia said, “In this temple of Kilokari village under Jangpura constituency, priests from different temples prayed for the victory of Arvind Kejriwal in the upcoming elections… Just yesterday, Arvind Kejriwal announced that Granthis and priests will get Rs 18,000 per month.”

What is ‘Priest-Granthi Samman Yojana’?
According to the Aam Aadmi Party, under the Pujari-Granthi Samman Yojana, temple priests and granthis of gurudwaras will get ₹18,000 every month. Registration under this scheme has started from Tuesday 31st December.
Announcing the plan, Kejriwal said, “Priests and granthis are an important part of our society, but they are often neglected. For the first time in the country, we are launching a scheme to support them, under which they will be given a monthly allowance of Rs 18,000.”
‘Priest-Granthi Samman Yojana’: Who can register?
As AAP has announced this scheme for Delhi only, hence the priests and granthis serving in the temples and Gurudwaras of Delhi can register for this scheme.
Kejriwal, however, did not elaborate on the guidelines for registration and the eligibility criteria for it. There is no official number of registered temple priests and gurudwara granthis in Delhi.
Asked about the number of potential beneficiaries of the scheme, Kejriwal said, “Their exact number will be known only after the registration process is completed.” He said that there will be no shortage of money for this.
How to register?
As no guideline or official notification has been issued for this scheme yet, hence for this scheme only Aam Aadmi Party leaders and candidates will go to the temples and Gurudwaras of their respective areas and get the priests and granthis registered. .
No official portal or website has been launched for registration of this scheme. Only AAP leaders and workers will come and register it and will give a receipt.
