The United Nations socio-economic agency UNDESA had estimated India’s population to be 142 crore or more than that of China in April 2023. According to the report, productivity in India will increase by 2035. This is because the dependence of the non-working population (below 15 years and above 64 years) on the working population (15 to 64 years) is expected to continuously decline for the next 11 years.
The report says that in 2024, the world population will see an increase of 7.10 crores. On the first day of the new year, the population figure will reach 809 crores. If estimates are to be believed, the 0.9 percent increase in population in 2024 is slightly less than the increase of 7.50 crore in 2023. So far in the decade of 2020, America’s population has increased by approximately 97 lakhs. Its growth rate is 2.9 percent.

“The projected world population on January 1, 2025 will be 8,092,034,511, an increase of 71,178,087 (0.89 percent) from New Year’s Day 2024,” the bureau said. There are expected to be approximately 4.2 births and 2.0 deaths every second worldwide in the month of January 2025. The 0.9 percent increase this year was slightly lower than in 2023. India was the most populous country, with a projected population of 1.41 billion in 2024.
