Negligence has come to light regarding the new Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Plant with a capacity of 800 MW unit in Yamunanagar, Haryana. Even after getting approval in January, environmental clearance has not yet been taken for the construction of the plant.
.
Due to this, the construction work has not started even after the tender was allotted in February. Last month, Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had held a meeting with Energy Department officials in Chandigarh, in which this issue was raised. He expressed displeasure on this.
After this, a consultant has been hired by the Energy Department for clearance. Officials say that NOC will be received soon.

Union Minister and former CM Manohar Lal Khattar had approved the tender in the meeting of High Power Workers Purchase Committee (HPGCL). Former Power Minister Ranjit Singh Chautala was also present in this meeting.
The tender was allotted in February The construction of this plant was to be completed in 57 months. Former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had allotted a tender of Rs 6900 crore for construction to Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) in February. The former CM had given this approval in the meeting of the High Power Workers Purchase Committee (HPGCL). Former Power Minister Ranjit Singh Chautala was also present in this meeting.
These are the characteristics of the plant Ultra super critical unit will be installed in this plant. Whereas sub-critical units are still installed. This has 8 percent more capacity than the earlier unit. In this, coal consumption will be reduced and electricity will become cheaper. Besides, provision has been made to install all the equipment to control pollution.
Unit to be built on the lines of Make in India The new 800 MW unit will be on the lines of Make in India, that is, the plant will be completely indigenous. At present, in the units of 300-300 MW installed, machines made in China are being used. The machines of the new unit will be indigenous and modern.
Its chimneys and cooling towers will be small. Due to this, electricity will be generated faster and pollution will also reduce. For this, 400 KV line will be laid separately. With its construction the youth will also get employment. With the construction of the new plant, 1400 MW electricity will be produced from the district.
