What was your first business?
Nikhil Kamat started his first business by selling mobile phones. He started this business at the age of 14. He started it with a friend after leaving school midway. However, when his mother came to know about it, she broke the phone and threw it away. Later he worked in a call center for Rs 8,000 and then at the age of 18, started his own company with brother Nitin Kamat.
How to enter stock market?
Nikhil Kamat got a job in a call center with great difficulty because at that time he had not completed the age of 18 years. He used to work in the call center from 4 pm to 1 am i.e. night shift. Along with this, he started learning the nuances related to the stock market, after which he started handling the investments of his team, due to which he started earning more from commission than salary. While trading the stocks of his call center colleagues, he realized that his true calling was to guide people in the financial world. Then in the year 2010, at the age of 18, he started Zerodha along with his brother.
Zerodha revolutionized the brokerage market in the country and soon became the largest retail stock brokerage company in the country, changing the way trading was done. This made investing and trading in stocks quite easy for the common people and that too at minimal brokerage. Nitin Kamat did not rest even after Zerodha.
