Russia’s Nuclear Chief Igor Kirillov has died in a blast in Moscow on Tuesday. According to BBC, General Kirillov was coming out of the apartment when a park scooter exploded nearby. In this, along with Kirillov, his assistant was also killed.
The blast occurred just 7 km away from the Kremlin, the presidential palace in Moscow. Russia’s investigative agency said that 300 grams of TNT was used for the blast. The agency has registered a case of criminal murder and started investigation.
After Kirillov’s death, the Deputy Speaker of the Russian Parliament has said that his murder will definitely be avenged. He was made the Chief of Nuclear Forces in April 2017. He had been the chief of Russia’s radiation, chemical and biological weapons departments.
According to the report of Kiev Independent, Kirillov was sentenced yesterday i.e. on Monday by the Security Service of Ukraine after pleading guilty to the charge of using banned chemical weapons in war. Britain and Canada had imposed sanctions on him in October over his role in the Ukraine war.

Ukraine was accused of making dirty bombs
Igor Kirillov had accused Ukraine of making a dirty bomb with the help of America in October 2024. Radioactive material is used in making dirty bombs. The cost of making them is also less. Apart from this, in 2018 he had also accused America of running a secret biological weapons laboratory in Georgia near the Russia and China border.
On the other hand, Ukraine Security Services (SBU) has also accused Kirillov of using chemical weapons about 5,000 times during his leadership. Of these, they were used more than 700 times in May this year alone.
