Amid claims that Delhi’s tableau will not be included in the Republic Day parade next year, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday accused the Center of playing politics over the issue. Kejriwal also targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), saying that Delhi is the national capital, hence its tableau should be included in the Republic Day parade every year.
Kejriwal asked at a press conference, “I want to ask them – why once again Delhi’s tableau is not being included this year? Why are the people of Delhi being prevented from participating in the Republic Day celebrations? “
Claiming that Delhi’s tableau has been missing for many years, Kejriwal said, “What kind of politics is this? Why is there so much hatred towards Delhi and its people? If these leaders hold so much animosity, then the people of Delhi Why vote for him?”
Assembly elections in Delhi are likely to be held in February next year.
BJP retaliated
Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva hit back at AAP chief Kejriwal, claiming that whenever a national festival comes, Kejriwal shows his ‘true colours’.
Sachdeva said, “Delhi people have not forgotten the incident of 2014, when the entire city was preparing to celebrate Republic Day, but Kejriwal tarnished its dignity by protesting.”
He also said that the decision to select tableaux for the Republic Day parade is taken by a nominated committee and their number is also limited, which Kejriwal is well aware of.
BJP leader Sachdeva said, “Elections are approaching in Delhi, so Kejriwal wants to divert people’s attention from real issues.”
BJP’s only mission is ‘Remove Kejriwal’!
Kejriwal targeted the BJP at the press conference and claimed that its election campaign had ‘no discourse, vision or program for the people of Delhi’.
AAP leader Kejriwal said, “They have no plan to show what they will do if they form the government.”
Former Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal also claimed that BJP is only focusing on ‘bashing Kejriwal from morning till night’.
Alleging that the BJP’s only mission is ‘Kejriwal hatao’, Kejriwal questioned whether people should vote for a party just because it abuses others.
