Liquor boxes and police team recovered
Police have busted illegal liquor smuggling in two separate operations in Paonta Sahib of Sirmaur district. During the night patrolling of the police, 8 boxes of illegal English liquor were recovered from a vehicle with Haryana number and 4 boxes from a vehicle with Uttarakhand number.

In the first case, Majra police station recovered 8 boxes of English liquor destined for sale in Himachal Pradesh from a vehicle with Haryana number. Police have arrested the accused Shamim s/o Mohammad Sadiq, a resident of Barada tehsil Saha, Haryana. A case has been registered against the accused under Himachal Pradesh Excise Act and Motor Vehicles Act.
In the second action, Paonta Sahib Police recovered 4 boxes of illicit English liquor destined for sale in Chandigarh from a vehicle going to Uttarakhand near Yamuna Bridge. It is a matter of concern that after crossing several check posts from Chandigarh, this liquor reached Paonta Sahib and was about to go to Uttarakhand. However, due to the vigilance of Paonta police, the smugglers were caught. In this matter also, a case has been registered under the Excise Act and investigation is ongoing.
