Liquor worth Rs 60 crore sold in Jharkhand in New Year
Liquor sales broke records in Jharkhand on the first day of the New Year. The amount of liquor sold between December 30 and January 1 this year is much more than last year. The Revenue Department has set a target of revenue of Rs 2700 crore in the current financial year, of which more than half has been achieved.

Between December 30 and January 1, the maximum amount of liquor was sold on the night of December 31. Liquor worth Rs 60 crore was sold in all three days. Official figures have not been released yet. The department hopes that the figures will increase further.
Liquor worth Rs 27.52 crore sold on December 31
According to the estimated figures of the department, liquor worth Rs 14.58 crore was sold on December 30 and Rs 27.52 crore on December 31. After this, liquor worth Rs 18 to 19 crore is expected to be sold on January 1. Last year’s records and this year’s records so far show that last year in 2023, liquor worth Rs 24 crore was sold on December 31, whereas this time on December 31, liquor worth more than Rs 3.50 crore was sold.

Ranchi district is on top in selling liquor. On December 31, the highest sale of liquor in the state took place in Ranchi. Liquor worth Rs 5.10 crore was sold here. Till now, Ranchi’s record of maximum liquor sale in a day was Rs 4.62 crore. On January 1, liquor worth more than Rs 3 crore was sold in Ranchi. On December 31 and January 1 together, liquor worth more than Rs 8 crore was sold in Ranchi.
Liquor worth Rs 2 crore sold in three districts of the state
According to the data received from the districts, East Singhbhum, Hazaribagh and Seraikela are the districts where after Ranchi, the maximum amount of liquor has been sold. Liquor worth more than Rs 2 crore was sold in these districts on December 31. There is a record of sale of liquor worth more than Rs 1 crore on December 31 in Bokaro, Deoghar, Giridih, Palamu and Ramgarh. The lowest liquor sale in the state was in Jamtara, where liquor worth Rs 19.65 lakh was sold.
