The Supreme Court has granted interim bail to Asaram (83), who is serving life sentence on rape charges in Jodhpur Central Jail. Asaram has been granted bail till March 31 in the case of rape of a female follower in his ashram in Surat.

However, there is no possibility of him getting out of jail, because Asaram is also guilty of raping a minor. Currently he is serving life imprisonment in Jodhpur Central Jail. Asaram has also got parole thrice in the last 5 months.
Lawyer said- can’t come out
Asaram’s lawyer RS Saluja said – On Tuesday (January 7), bail has been granted for the first time by the Supreme Court. Asaram will not be able to come out despite bail. This case of rape was registered by a woman living in Asaram’s ashram near Gandhinagar. Now preparations are on to file a bail application in the second case in Jodhpur High Court.
Here, while giving the verdict on bail, the court said that Asaram cannot meet his followers. He will not even try to tamper with the evidence of the case.
Asaram guilty in 2 cases: Also guilty in the decisions of Jodhpur and Gandhinagar courts.
Jodhpur Court: Asaram was arrested by Jodhpur Police from the ashram in Indore in 2013. Since then Asaram was in jail. After a five-year long trial, on April 25, 2018, the court sentenced Asaram to life imprisonment.
Gandhinagar Court: A rape case was filed against Asaram by a woman from the ashram in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. On January 31, 2023, the court had sentenced Asaram to life imprisonment in this case.
Had demanded female doctor in jail
Asaram was healthy when he got his medical checkup done before being sent to Jodhpur Central Jail. He did not have any disease. Only a month after going to jail, Asaram had mentioned for the first time about his Trinadi colic disease. While filing the petition on September 4, 2013, he had said, ‘I have been suffering from a disease called Trinadi Colic for about 13 and a half years.
Female doctor Neeta was treating me for the last 2 to 3 years. Neeta should be allowed to come to the Central Jail for 8 days for my treatment. On this, Asaram was checked by the medical board. The doctor did not find any such disease.
