Chain snatcher and her female companions caught by police
Durg Police has succeeded in arresting the accused who are continuously committing chain snatching incidents in the city. Police arrested three accused and seized jewelery worth Rs 2 lakh 80 thousand from them. An accused is still at large in the case
.
Durg SP Jitendra Shukla said that in the last few days, there were continuous incidents of chain snatching in police station Khursipar, Vaishali Nagar and Supela area. Taking this incident seriously, he had given instructions to form a special team and investigate the matter.
The police started the investigation under the leadership of ACCU in-charge Inspector Tapesh Netam, Rajesh Mishra police station in-charge Supela, Abar Singh police station in-charge Khursipar and Amit Adani police station in-charge Vaishali Nagar. Police started checking the CCTV footage of the incident that took place on November 19 in Khursipar police station area as well as the incident that took place on December 8 in Supela and Vaishali Nagar police stations.
The police were investigating the case when they got information from an informer that a woman named Dimple was looking for a customer to sell her gold chain. That chain is stolen. When the police team caught Dimple and brought her to the police station and interrogated her, she told that Nirmal Singh alias Kariya alias Rocky, resident of Housing Board Hall, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, had given her this chain.
After this, the police traced Nirmal Singh alias Rocky’s father Manjeet Singh and found out that he was hiding in Jabalpur. The police sent a team and arrested him from there. Nirmal was brought to Bhilai and when strictly interrogated, he along with Deep Singh alias Deepak admitted to snatching the Mangal Sutra of a woman sweeping the floor in Khursipar area on November 19 in a bike.
She told that after snatching her, the chain was kept near Dimple. He also admitted that on December 8, he along with Deep Singh had snatched the Mangalsutra from the neck of a woman walking near Digambar Jain Temple in Vaishali Nagar and a woman plucking a flower in Kohka. He also kept it near Dimple and kept the bike at Manisha’s house in Ahiwara.
On the behest of Nirmal Singh, the police have seized the bike, snatch chain and mangalsutra from Dimple and Manisha. Currently the accused in the case Deep Singh is absconding. He is hiding somewhere in Punjab. The police will arrest him soon.
