Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria has taken a historic step by reconstituting his Advisory Council. Under this new change implemented from the new year 2025, traveling allowance (TA) and daily allowance (DA) will be given to the members attending the advisory council meetings.

The term of this newly formed council will be valid for two years. Home Secretary Mandeep Brar issued the notification, in which Rajya Sabha MP Satnam Singh Sandhu has been appointed as a member. This is the first time that a Rajya Sabha MP from outside Chandigarh has been given a place in the Advisory Council of Chandigarh.

MP Manish Tiwari also got a place Chandigarh MP Manish Tiwari, former MP Kirron Kher, Chandigarh Mayor and outgoing Mayor are also included in the council. Along with this, representatives of many other eminent persons and organizations including Director of PGI, Vice Chancellor of Panjab University, Chairperson of Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Chairman of CII, Chairman of Hotel and Restaurant Association, Chairman of Chandigarh Residents Association Federation were also made members. Many other prominent social organizations including the presidents of Laghu Udyog Bharti, Chandigarh Traders Association, Senior Citizens Association, North Cultural Center and Lions Club have also been made part of this council. Apart from this, prominent personalities like Professor Raj Bahadur, Advocate Ajay Jagga, former Mayor Subhash Chawla, Shivinder Mandhotra and Yudhveer Singh Kauda have also been included in it.
