Chhattisgarh Government has appointed Administrator in the Municipal Corporation. Notification has been issued by the Urban Administration Department. This action has been taken under Section 20 of the Municipal Corporation Act 1956. Collectors of different districts were given the responsibility of administrator of Municipal Corporation.

The special thing is that with the appointment of the Administrator, posts like Zone President, Mayor in the Municipal Corporation will now be without power. The tenure of all these leaders has ended. Only administrators will work in their place. According to the notification issued, the Administrator of Raipur Municipal Corporation will be the Collector of Raipur. Similarly, Collector Administrators have also been made for Municipal Corporations Rajnandgaon, Bastar, Bilaspur, Dhamtari, Durg, Raigarh, Manendragarh-Bharatpur-Chirmiri, Ambikapur and Korba.
so what will happen next The appointment of an administrator does not at all mean that municipal elections will not be held. This system is to appoint representatives in corporations after the end of their tenure. While giving information to Dainik Bhaskar about the administrative system, Pramod Dubey, who was the Chairman of Raipur Municipal Corporation, said – For example, when the tenure of the governments in the country or state ends, then the Governor or the President takes control. Similarly, after the end of the tenure in corporations, the responsibility is given to the Collector or senior IAS officers.
Dubey said that this is not the first time in Chhattisgarh. Even before this, administrators have been appointed. In Raipur, officers like Ganesh Shankar Mishra, Ajay Nath have performed the responsibility of administrator. Now it will happen that the public representatives will not be able to take decisions related to the Municipal Corporation in any matter, this responsibility will now be with the Administrator. The powers of zone presidents will now be with the Municipal Corporation Commissioner and the powers to take decisions at the mayor level will be with the Administrator, who is now the Collector of Raipur or other districts.
