Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 News: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal has made another big election promise before the Delhi Assembly elections to be held on February 5. Kejriwal has announced that if the AAP government comes to power again in Delhi, male students studying in schools and colleges will be given free bus facility and 50 percent discount in metro fares. Arvind Kejriwal has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding 50 percent discount in Delhi Metro fares for students.
Kejriwal has announced in a press conference that if his party wins again in the elections to be held on February 5, students will be given the facility of free travel in buses. The AAP government is already providing free travel facility in buses to women in the city. Kejriwal said, “Women in Delhi are already enjoying the benefit of free bus travel. Now we will extend this facility to students (boys) also, so that their financial burden is reduced and education is promoted.”
This announcement cannot be implemented immediately due to the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) currently in force in Delhi. But Kejriwal assured that this scheme will be a priority of his government if he comes to power again. Kejriwal wrote in his letter that the burden of relaxation given to students should be borne equally by both the Central and Delhi governments. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) The central government is also a partner with AAP.
“Metro fare is expensive for students. I have requested Prime Minister Modi to start this scheme and we are ready to bear half of the cost,” Kejriwal said at a press conference on Friday (January 17). He said that this initiative can be started after the elections.
Apart from this, the AAP chief wrote on social media platform Will give concessions. Every penny spent on students is an investment in the future of the country.

He also attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party over BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala allegedly abusing AAP MLA Ruturaj Jha in a debate on a TV channel on Tuesday. Voting will be held here on February 5 under the Delhi Assembly elections. Whereas the results will be declared after the counting of votes on February 8.

The main contest in the Delhi elections is between the ruling Aam Aadmi Party in the capital, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in the center and the Congress. The Congress, which was in power in Delhi for 15 consecutive years, has suffered a setback in the last two assembly elections. It has failed to win even a single seat. AAP dominated the 2020 assembly elections by winning 62 out of 70 seats, while BJP got eight seats.
