Delhi Election 2025 Live: Before the elections, water problem and unfulfilled promises dominate the minds of the people of North-East Delhi.
People attending Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Seelampur rally expressed dissatisfaction over the municipal system including irregular water supply in the area. Rahul Gandhi on Monday took out a rally in the north-east Delhi area and reminded of the time when the city was ruled by Sheila Dikshit. Rahul’s first rally before the elections in Delhi took place in the area most affected by communal violence in 2020. More than 50 people died in the riots.
Complaining about dirty water, Aman Khan, a resident of Babarpur, said, “Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) claims that it is supplying clean water to the people of Delhi but the people of this area are forced to buy water from the market. ” Hazrat Ali and Mohammad Faizi, who work in Jafrabad’s jacket market, said they took half-day leave to attend Rahul’s rally.
“Although the government is providing free electricity, water quality is a big concern for us. We buy water from the market every day,” Faizi said. He said about AAP, “We gave two chances to the party but now we feel that this time Congress should be given a chance.”
Faizi said Abdul Rehman, now Congress candidate from Seelampur constituency, was betrayed by AAP despite being active in development work. In the last election, Rehman had contested on AAP ticket and won. A huge crowd of women gathered in the rally. He said he hoped for peace in the city if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) or AAP does not come to power.
