Junior Teacher Salary Hike: New Year has brought happiness for the junior teachers of Odisha. In the very first month of the year 2025, the Odisha government has taken a big decision regarding government teachers. The Mohan Charan Majhi government of Odisha has increased the monthly salary of junior teachers working at primary and upper primary level in the state. On Friday, the salary of junior teachers in the state was increased from Rs 11,000 to Rs 16,000. In a statement issued from the Chief Minister’s Office, it was said that this increase will benefit about 13,740 teachers across the state. The proposal has been approved by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, which will result in an additional expenditure of Rs 89.15 crore on the state exchequer.
EPF will also increase
With this decision, the Odisha government has also increased the contribution to the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF). Now the state will contribute Rs 1,950 per month to EPF for each junior teacher, which was earlier Rs 1,443. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said the decision is part of the government’s efforts to improve the socio-economic condition of teachers in the state. He also said that his government is fully committed to enhancing the welfare of teachers.
Salary increased so much
Let us tell you that before January 26, 13,740 junior teachers of the state will get great news in the form of salary. Earlier these junior teachers used to get a monthly salary of Rs 11,000. Now the state government has shown great kindness to him and increased his salary by Rs 5,000, making his new salary Rs 16,000 per month. Along with this, the government has given them double happiness, as their EPF has also been increased.
