There may be light rain and snowfall in higher altitude areas in Himachal Pradesh today. According to the Meteorological Department, Western Disturbance will be active in the state from January 21. Due to which there is a possibility of rain and snowfall in the hilly areas for the next three days.

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert especially regarding snowfall on January 23. Many areas of the state including Shimla are cloudy since this morning. Due to which there is a possibility of rain and snowfall.
IMD estimates that there will be rain and snowfall in the central and higher reaches of the state in the end of January. There is a possibility of snowfall on the high peaks of all these districts which mainly include Kinnaur, Kullu, Chamba, Kangra, Lahaul Spiti, Mandi and Shimla.
Yellow alert of fog in Una
Yellow alert of dense fog has been issued in plains district Una. Drivers are facing problems due to low visibility in the morning due to fog. The effect of fog is also being seen on the temperature.
Cold will increase due to western disturbance
The temperature in the plains has reached even lower than the capital Shimla. While the minimum temperature in Shimla was recorded at 2.8 degrees Celsius, the temperature dropped to 1.7 in Sundernagar, 1.4 in Una, 1.0 in Palampur and 2.0 degrees Celsius in Hamirpur. After snowfall on the high peaks of Shimla and surrounding areas two days ago, now due to the activation of new Western Disturbance, there is a possibility of further increase in the cold in the state.
