India has convinced Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto not to visit Pakistan. Media house The Print has quoted sources as saying that President Subianto will not visit Pakistan after his visit to India.

According to reports, India has invited President Subianto to participate as the chief guest in the Republic Day parade on January 26. However, this has not been officially announced by India.

Earlier this month, Pakistani media reports had claimed that Subianto would be visiting Pakistan for a three-day visit. He will tour India and from there leave for Pakistan. However, the Indian government did not want Subianto to go directly from India to Pakistan. For this, India had raised this issue with Indonesia.

Why does India not want Subianto to go from New Delhi to Islamabad? Indonesia is India’s largest trading partner in the ASEAN region. India has paid greater attention to its relations with Southern Indonesia in recent years. Amidst these strong relations, India did not want Subianto’s visit to Pakistan to have a negative impact on relations with India.

According to media reports, if Subianto travels to Islamabad immediately after the Republic Day celebrations, it could be a negative signal for India. India and Pakistan have long had tense relations and a visit by a prominent foreign leader to Pakistan soon after his visit to India could weaken India’s diplomatic position.

India has not yet announced the name of the chief guest Usually, leaders of only those countries who have strong diplomatic relations with India are invited to be chief guests in the Republic Day Parade. However, earlier it used to be a tradition that India used to announce the name of the Chief Guest who would be a part of Republic Day months in advance. But this time India has not announced the name of the Chief Guest till 15 days before the Republic Day. Subianto’s visit to Pakistan is also believed to be the reason for this.

In 2018, the then President of Indonesia Joko Widodo participated in India’s Republic Day parade as the chief guest. However, after visiting India, he then went to Pakistan for a two-day state visit. But this time, the Indian government made sure that such a situation does not happen again.

Pakistan announces visit of Indonesian President Pakistan has also announced the visit of Indonesian President at the end of this month. According to Pakistani media reports, he will come to Islamabad on January 26.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has constituted a special committee to enhance bilateral relations between Indonesia and Pakistan. Its meeting was also held on Thursday. Pakistan’s Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal also presided over it.

Saudi Crown Prince did not go to Pakistan after India tour When Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman visited India on a one-day state visit after the G-20 Summit in September 2023. Before this visit, Pakistani officials had made a lot of efforts to get Prince Salman to come to Pakistan from India, even if only for a few hours. Although he did not do so then.

Then it was claimed in Pakistani media reports that this could not happen because of India. It is noteworthy that when Prince Salman came to India in February 2019, he visited Pakistan while returning from India.
