Amritsar Police Commissioner has taken a special step keeping in mind the festival of Lohri. Movement of two-wheelers on Bhandari Bridge and elevated road has been completely stopped. Only four wheelers are being allowed on these roads.

Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that this decision has been taken to avoid any kind of accident due to kite flying on the occasion of Lohri. It has often been seen that incidents of strangulation or accidents of two-wheeler drivers occur due to Chinese Manjha. Many times lives have also been lost in these incidents.

Bhandari Bridge and Batala Road Bridge closed

Along with Bhandari Bridge, Batala Road Bridge has also been completely closed for two days. No vehicle of any kind is allowed on Batala Road Bridge. Apart from this, other elevated roads of Amritsar have also been closed, where only four wheelers are being allowed.

Police officials also said that those flying kites using Chinese manjha are also being monitored through drones. Strict action will be taken if found using Chinese manjha.

Police appealed to the people

Amritsar Police has appealed to the public to follow the laws and rules. He said that do not argue with the traffic police personnel and support this security measure of the police.

This step has been taken to make the festival of Lohri safe and to prevent any untoward incident.
