Manmohan Singh Death: Telangana Assembly has unanimously passed a resolution urging the Central Government to honor former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh with ‘Bharat Ratna’. Assembly Speaker G. During this, expressed gratitude for the role played by the late leader in the formation of Telangana state in 2014. After discussion in the meeting, cutting across party lines, the House unanimously passed a resolution requesting the Center to confer the highest civilian honor on Singh.

The gathering also observed two minutes silence in honor of the late leader. Leader of the opposition K. Chandrashekhar Rao did not attend the session. Manmohan Singh, the father of economic reforms in India, died on 26 December at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. He was 92 years old. Earlier, while presenting the resolution, Revanth Reddy said that the demise of the former Prime Minister is an irreparable loss for the country.

CM Revanth Reddy mentioned several landmark laws brought by the Manmohan Singh-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government, including the Employment Guarantee Scheme (Mahatma Gandhi NREGA), the Right to Information Act and the Land Acquisition Act. Reddy said the former Prime Minister was a great leader who fulfilled the aspirations of the people of Telangana under his leadership. He said that the state government has decided to install the statue of Manmohan Singh in Hyderabad.

Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti said that he supports the proposal presented by the Chief Minister. On behalf of Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS), its working president and MLA K. T. Rama Rao supported the proposal. He also requested the Chief Minister that the Assembly should pass a resolution urging the Center to build a memorial for former Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao in the national capital.

According to PTI, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader in the House Maheshwar Reddy said that his party also supports the condolence motion. Reddy made some comments about Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, to which Minister Sridhar Babu objected.

‘Bharat Ratna’ award was started on this day

‘Bharat Ratna’, the country’s highest civilian honour, is awarded to those who have rendered exceptional and noteworthy service to the nation in specific fields like art, literature, science, social service and sports. This honor was instituted by the then President Dr. Rajendra Prasad on January 2, 1954. Initially there was no practice of giving this honor posthumously, but after a year this provision was added. Similarly, the provision of awarding Bharat Ratna to those who have achieved special achievements in the field of sports was also included later.
