When the police signaled to stop the pickup, the criminals inside it started running away with the pickup vehicle. When the police started chasing them, the criminals started firing bullets at the police. In response, the police also opened fire on the criminals. Meanwhile, all the criminals had fled leaving their pickup vehicle near Bararipur village on Nalanda-Jehanabad border. Vivek Kumar’s name had come up in this scandal. Police had recovered four bullet shells fired by the criminals from the spot.
Regarding the second criminal killed in the encounter, Lal Deen Prasad, it is being told that his maternal uncle’s house is near Pavri Mode of Dhanrua. He was hiding here for the last several days. More than a dozen cases including murder and robbery are registered against Lal Deen Prasad. The police were searching for him for several months. The third arrested criminal, Mantu Kumar, used to work as a driver for the criminals. After sending Mantu Kumar to jail, the police is planning to take him on remand and interrogate him.
