A married man, who was facing pressure from his live-in partner to marry her, allegedly murdered the woman and kept her body in a fridge in Madhya Pradesh’s Dewas city, which was discovered eight months later. The mutilated body of a woman wearing a saree, with her hands tied around her neck and jewellery. Police found the body on Friday inside a refrigerator in a house which was rented by accused Sanjay Patidar.
According to the police, the accused had murdered Pinky Prajapati in June last year. According to NDTV report, the woman was in a live-in relationship with a Patidar from Ujjain for the last five years.
It was told that the woman was asking Patidar to marry her, that is why he murdered her with the help of his friend.
News agency PTI quoted Dewas SP Puneet Gehlot as saying, “The woman is around 30 years old. We suspect that she was murdered in June 2024. After smelling the foul smell, the neighbors called the landlord who checked the house.” Just opened one part.”
He further said, “The woman’s body was found in the refrigerator, whose shelves had been removed. They then alerted the police.”
Gehlot said, the owner of the house is Dhirendra Srivastava, who is a resident of Indore. He said that Patidar had rented the house from Srivastava in June 2023.
Goods were kept even after vacating the house
After a year, Patidar vacated the house, but he kept his belongings in the master bedroom and a study room. Patidar had informed Srivastava that he would vacate the portion later, a senior police officer said.
Police officer Amit Solanki told PTI, “Patidars used to come to the house occasionally. Recently the current tenant asked the landlord to unlock this part of the house. The landlord showed this part of the house to the tenant, but locked it again because the Patidar’s belongings were inside and also cut off the electricity on Wednesday.”
Solanki said the body was found when the refrigerator stopped working due to power cut and foul smell started spreading in the neighbourhood.
