'There is doubt on your honesty': Delhi HC angry over delay in CAG report on liquor scam, reprimanded AAP government - delhi election 2025 high court angry over delay in CAG report on liquor scam reprimanded AAP government

Delhi Election 2025: Delhi High Court on Monday (January 13) on liquor policy Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) to deal with the reports of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Strongly reprimanded the government. The court said that the government had “procrastinated to avoid the assembly session”. The court was hearing a petition seeking implementation of the CAG report and calling a special session to present the report and discuss it. Bharatiya Janata Party MLAs have filed a petition in the High Court to discuss the CAG report in the Delhi Assembly. During the hearing on this on Monday, the court reprimanded the Delhi government.

The Delhi High Court said that the way the Delhi government has taken back its steps in considering the CAG report raises doubts about its honesty. The court said that the Delhi government should have immediately sent the CAG report to the Assembly Speaker and initiated a discussion in the House.

The High Court told the Delhi government, “The deadline is too long. You have taken too long to postpone the session.” “The time taken to send the report to the LG, the manner in which you are delaying it, casts doubt on your honesty,” the court said. The court said that the Delhi government should have shown promptness in sending the report to the Assembly Speaker. Delhi government asked how can the session be organized when elections are near.

CAG report leaked

In fact, just before the assembly elections in Delhi, the CAG report regarding the liquor policy of the Delhi government was leaked. In this report, it has been mentioned that due to this policy, Delhi government is facing a revenue loss of Rs 2026 crore. According to IANS, the report also revealed that there were serious irregularities in the liquor policy, including flaws in the licensing process. After the arrival of this report, there has been panic in the politics of the country.

BJP got election weapon

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has claimed that CAG has estimated a loss of Rs 2,026 crore due to the excise policy of the Delhi government. The saffron party said that the ruling Aam Aadmi Party has not presented the report in the Assembly to hide its mistakes. BJP leader Anurag Thakur said the CAG report has made 10 major findings about the policy, which was canceled by the AAP government amid controversy.

He said that former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will have to answer the questions raised on this policy. Thakur said, “They will have to tell in whose pocket the money went.” He alleged that Kejriwal is the mastermind of this scam. BJP president JP Nadda claimed that the CAG report on the Delhi government’s excise policy has exposed deliberate lapses that led to a loss of Rs 2,026 crore to the exchequer.

BJP MP Manoj Tiwari, BJP Delhi State President Virendra Sachdeva fiercely targeted Arvind Kejriwal over the liquor policy in the state. Manoj Tiwari while talking to IANS said that Aam Aadmi Party had come with the claim of change in politics, but now it is seen in the role of broker for corrupt people and illegal infiltrators. Aam Aadmi Party has refused to table this report in the Assembly. However, no matter how many attempts are made to hide the truth, it always comes out.

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva said that the CAG report has mentioned a scam of Rs 2026 crore. This is not a simple matter. How Delhi’s liquor policy was changed and expert opinion was deliberately ignored. This is a serious issue. The issue was raised repeatedly that Arvind Kejriwal is involved in brokering the liquor policy. The way Manish Sisodia prepared this policy is a big scam. The liquor policy simply means that Arvind Kejriwal has committed a scam of Rs 2026 crore, as stated in the CAG report.
