This unique case is from Panna district of Madhya Pradesh, where a challan was issued to a person while walking on the basis that he was not wearing a helmet. The incident took place in Ajaygarh police station area, where a person named Sushil Kumar Shukla claimed that he was going to invite guests on his daughter’s birthday. On the way, the police stopped him, forcibly made him sit in the car, took him to the police station, wrote down the registration number of a motorcycle and issued a challan of Rs 300 for riding a bike without a helmet.
Complaint orders for investigation
Shukla complained about the matter to the District Superintendent of Police (SP) and demanded action against the guilty officers. The SP told the media that the SDOP of Ajaygarh has been entrusted with the responsibility of investigating the incident. Initial information appears to be incomplete, and appropriate action will be taken once the investigation is completed.
Anger on social media
As soon as this matter went viral on social media, it became a reason for criticism of the police administration. Users accused the police of harassing weak and innocent people. One user wrote, “Police power extends only to common people.” While another sarcastically said, “Action should also be taken against the officers involved in such cases.”
