8 talukas will be included in Tharad district The government has given a gift to the people of Banaskantha in the new year itself. Vav-Tharad has been declared a district. Banaskantha district currently has 14 talukas, out of which 8 talukas will now be included in Tharad district. According to sources, two new talukas can also be created along with the new district, one of which is Rah village of Tharad and the other is Garh village of Palanpur taluka.
Number of assembly seats may increase from 182 Presently the headquarters of Banaskantha is Palanpur. By declaring Vav-Tharad as a new district, it will include Vav, Bhabhar, Tharad, Dhanera, Suigam, Lakhani, Deodar and Kankrej, while Palanpur, Danta, Amirgarh, Dantiwada, Vadgam, Deesa will remain in the existing district.
