What is the police doing regarding the online sale of e-cigarettes: High Court asked for an affidavit from the police headquarters, called the action of Jaipur Commissionerate as Khanapurthi.

Expressing dissatisfaction over the measures taken to stop online sale of e-cigarettes, the High Court has sought a reply from the police headquarters in this regard within two weeks. The court has asked the police headquarters what action has been taken so far against online platforms related to the sale of e-cigarettes? The court termed the affidavit presented by the Jaipur Police Commissionerate as mere mere fabrication and said that the Jaipur Police has not taken any action. The government should develop the mechanism. The division bench of Chief Justice MM Srivastava and Justice Umashankar Vyas gave this order on the PIL of Priyansha Gupta. The court said that the government should develop a mechanism to stop the sale of e-cigarettes on online platforms. According to the reply of the Central Government, it was the responsibility of the State Government to take action after the implementation of the law. The state government issued instructions in this regard from time to time. Regarding the affidavit submitted by Jaipur Police Headquarters in 2022 regarding stopping the sale of e-cigarettes on online platforms, the court said that it did not disclose anything except paperwork. Now the hearing of the case will take place on February 1.
