Priyanka Chopra shares a touching tribute to Irrfan Khan on his 5th death anniversary.
On the fifth death anniversary of Irrfan Khan, Priyanka Chopra paid a heartfelt tribute to the late actor with a memory from their film 7 Khoon Maaf. Sharing a still from the movie on Instagram, she wrote, “Thinking of you and your talent…”
Irrfan passed away in April 2020 at the age of 53, two years after being diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour. At the time of his passing, Priyanka had also shared an emotional message honouring his life and legacy. “The world will always remember your legacy #irrfankhan. You fought like a warrior.. Rest in peace my friend.. My condolences to the family,” she had written alongside a photo from their film. That post had been liked over 2.3 million times.
Irrfan’s last message to his fans came during the promotions of Angrezi Medium, a film he couldn’t promote in person due to his declining health. Yet, he recorded a moving voice note for audiences.
“Hello brothers and sister… This is me Irrfan. Today I’m with you but also not with you,” he began. Reflecting on the experience of making Angrezi Medium, he said, “Angrezi Medium” was a special film for him and he wanted to promote it “with as much as love as we have put in the making of it.” The film, directed by Homi Adajania, was shot while he was undergoing treatment for his illness.
“There is a saying… ‘When life gives you lemons, you make lemonades out of it. It sounds good. But when life actually puts lemon in your hands, it becomes really tough to make lemonade,” he had said in his distinctive voice.
“But what is the choice apart from being positive in tough situations. We have made this film with the same positivity. And I hope this film will teach you, make you laugh, make you cry and then make you laugh again. Enjoy the trailer and be kind to each other… And yes wait for me,” he had signed off.
Irrfan continues to be remembered as one of the finest actors of Indian cinema, with a legacy that lives on.
