‘Army action of non-easement nature’
The Ministry of Defense said in a statement, “Indian armed forces launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ targeting terrorist structure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, from where terrorist attacks were planned and directed against India. A total of nine places were targeted and army actions were focused, balanced and non-respective nature.”
The release further stated, “These steps have been taken after the Pahalgam terror attack, in which 25 Indians and a Nepali citizen were killed. We are fulfilling the commitment that those responsible for this attack will be held accountable. Detailed information on ‘Operation Sindoor’ will be given later today.”
‘Five places targeted’: Pakistani media reports
According to Pakistani media, five places were targeted in cities like Muzaffarabad, the capital of Bahawalpur in Punjab province of Pakistan and the capital of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK).
“Five places in Pakistan were targeted, many of which were madrasas,” the Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) reported.
Bahawalpur is about 200 km from India’s border and is located about 50 km from the Line of Muzaffarabad Control (LoC). By attacking these cities, India has demonstrated its ability and will to carry out a deeply targeted attack within Pakistan and PoK.
